Update on Sage Sound Singers Concert Season – Fall 2021

Hi everybody,

Since the last post a lot has changed for the worse regarding the Covid-19 situation and protocols now in place.

Currently, we ARE going to start practicing on September 14, 2021 and provide you with something to watch in December. Hurray for that!   What we are not sure about is whether we’ll be able to have a LIVE concert or not. Our original plan was to have a live concert at the HUB and also post a video (similar to our Fall 2021 concert). If it ends up we cannot have a live concert, we’ll see you on YouTube in December!

Sage Sound Singers Announce their Fall 2021 Concert!

UPDATE:  It is looking better than ever that we will be able to sing “live” for you! The Province of BC has targeted September 7th as the date many Covid restrictions will be lifted. A lot will depend on  the number of VACCINATIONS! So PLEASE be sure to get  vaccinated and help us get back to normal!

We are hard at work planning our next LIVE not-online concert. We will start rehearsing in early September 2021 and have two performances in late November, or sometime in December. It will all depend on Covid vaccinations and how successful we in British Columbia are at reducing this scourge. We choose to remain optimistic and plan for the best.

For a “sneak peak”, I can divulge two of the songs we will be performing in the Fall:

Fare Thee Well, Love
Is a song recorded by Canadian music group The Rankin Family. It was released in 1992 as the second single from their second studio album, Fare Thee Well Love. It peaked in the top 10 on the RPM Country Tracks and Adult Contemporary Tracks charts, and won the Juno Award for Single of the Year at the Juno Awards of 1994. We will be bringing you this lovely song SATB (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) in an arrangement by Stuart Calvert.
Walking In The Air
Is a song written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film The Snowman based on Raymond Briggs’ 1978 children’s book of the same name. The song forms the centrepiece of The Snowman, which has become a seasonal favourite on British and Finnish television. The story relates the fleeting adventures of a young boy and a snowman who has come to life. In the second part of the story, the boy and the snowman fly to the North Pole. “Walking in the Air” is the theme for the journey. We will be bringing you this SATB in a simple, but haunting arrangement by John Leavitt.

“Just Believe!” Virtual Christmas Concert – smashing success!

Our concert, which premiered on December 23, 2020 was well received and well watched. On opening night, we had over 100 viewers! What a fantastic turnout. Since then, over 400 people have watched it. We couldn’t ask for more except to be able to give you a live concert. Drum Rollllllll……. That’s exactly what we plan to do for our Fall 2021 concert. We have every confidence that Covid restrictions will be reduced enough to make it happen.

We want to thank all of you who supported us and continue to support us now, last year, and every year before.

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!

Sage Sound Singers planning a Christmas Concert for 2020!

It’s now the end of August and summer is winding down. The vegetable garden is full of produce and the rest of the yard is winding down for the season. This has been the best year ever for staying home and paying attention to the yard upkeep!  It all looks beautiful.

The good news is Sage Sound Singers will be having a Fall season!  Yay! Yippee!  Of course it will be different from all others.  We’re planning a Christmas Concert for the middle of December. We start practice on September 21st – with a twist!  We’ll be in the HUB gym for all sessions practicing all the social distancing and protocol required. Instead of a traditional concert, we have enlisted the help of the Hub Online Network (HON) to do a video recording of our performance and present it to you, our loyal audience, on YouTube. Thankfully HON has the expertise to help us pull this off.  As Covid-19 protocol changes we will do what it takes to continue on, so watch our Facebook page for more information as the weeks progress.

Covid-19 Update

Hello Everybody,

It’s our hope that you are faring well during these uncertain times. We are sorry to announce that Sage Sound Singers spring practice repertoire has been canceled. To help protect the health of our members and community, we made the decision on March 14th, 2020 to suspend practices until further notice. We know it was the right choice to make. Our Fall plans, (so far) have not been affected. Our goal is to have a Christmas Concert sometime in December 2020.  Hopefully Covid-19 will be under control by then. We’ll hopefully start our Fall practice in early September.

Our hearts go out to everybody who has been affected in any way by this pandemic. We also send our heartfelt condolences to our singing brothers and sisters at the Skagit Valley Chorale in Mount Vernon, Washington.

Take care everyone and do your best to help stop this scourge.

THANK YOU! Tribute to the Music of Fiddler on the Roof. A smashing SUCCESS!

We sang to full houses both performances.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to YOU our audience!

Twisted Desert Music presents an exciting evening of quality entertainment. The SAGE SOUND SINGERS are back with music from a classic favourite story.

Sage Sound Singers Return For An Exciting Fall Season!

After a six month hiatus, Michelle Reid, President and Music Director of Twisted Desert Music is bringing the Sage Sound Singers back for an exciting Fall 2019 musical performance. We will be coming back with almost all of our original singers plus a few new ones! Everybody has had a good rest over the last six months and are ready to entertain Ashcroft and area once again. This time we will be doing something a little bit different by presenting the choral version of the great play and film, Fiddler on the Roof. This isn’t the actual play, but it is all of the ensemble music, solos, duets, trios and quartets from the play- in short, the entire musical score without the acting – all in one exciting evening!  Our talented accompanist, Dimiter Terziev will be be joining us once again and will provide the piano accompaniment for this production. Work has already begun on purchasing and assembling the musical score. In mid July the solos and duets will start familiarising themselves with the music with some practices here and there. Early September is when the official rehearsals begin.
The performance will be sometime in November 2019 at the Ashcroft HUB.
Look for more information in the coming weeks here, or on our FaceBook page!

Sage Sound Singers Disband

After almost nine years of providing quality choral music to Ashcroft and area residents, Sage Sound Singers is disbanding.
Their last concert was at Choral Rhapsody in Kamloops where they sang three of their best songs from the “Somewhere In My Memories” Christmas Concert (December 2018).
While Sage Sound Singers are no more, Twisted Desert Music Society is alive and well, so it’s possible that in the future choral singing will return to Ashcroft and area.

We would like to thank the choir members, accompanists and conductors who through the years made it all possible.  Your hard work and dedication made Sage Sound Singers Community Choir a fine choral group.

We also would like to thank Second Time Around, Teck Highland Valley Copper and others for their generous financial support through the years.

And finally, we’d like to thank Michelle Reid for her vision and persistence in making Sage Sound Singers the best we could be.

Sage Sound Singers will always be “Somewhere In Our Memories”
